Air Canada & KTC partner to promote eco-tourism in Canada

Air Canada and KTC take off with Green Travel Initiative, celebrating direct flights to Canada’s eco-tourism hotspots

Air Canada and KTC, a leading credit card issuer in Thailand, have launched a joint campaign to promote sustainable tourism to Canada. The campaign celebrates the resumption of Air Canada’s non-stop Bangkok-Vancouver service, which takes flight on October 29, 2024, and runs until May 2, 2025.

This initiative caters to the growing demand from both business travelers and Thailand’s burgeoning eco-tourism market. It also highlights KTC’s commitment to providing green travel solutions through its KTC World Travel Service channel.

“This partnership signifies our mutual goal in supporting sustainable tourism. We believe that travel can be a force for good, and we are proud to work with KTC to make it easier for Thai travelers to experience Canada’s natural beauty responsibly.”

Sanjeev Chowdhury, Counsellor (Commercial) and Senior Trade Commissioner at the Embassy of Canada to Thailand, said that with Air Canada’s unique non-stop flights from North America to Thailand and the newly introduced eTA system, it is to offer Thai visitors unparalleled access to Canada’s majestic landscapes and vibrant urban experiences.

The campaign will showcase Canada’s diverse range of eco-friendly destinations and activities, from skiing and hiking in the Rocky Mountains to exploring the vibrant cities of Vancouver and Toronto. It will also highlight the importance of responsible travel practices, such as reducing carbon footprints and supporting local communities.

With this new partnership, Air Canada and KTC are making it easier than ever for Thai travelers to experience the best of Canada while contributing to a more sustainable future.

Echoing this commitment, Hon Lam, general manager for Hong Kong, Southern China, and Southeast Asia at Air Canada, said that it is to resume its direct Bangkok-Vancouver flights, meeting the rising demand from both leisure and business sectors with the Boeing 787-9 aircraft, which deliver a 20% reduction in fuel consumption.

“Our ‘Leave Less, Do More’ campaign reflects our mission to reduce environmental impact while enriching the travel experience,” said Lam.

Since 2018, Air Canada has made significant strides in minimizing its ecological footprint. Initiatives include donating over 24,000 amenity kits to communities in need, distributing 20,000 duvets and mattress pads, reducing single-use plastics by 47.8 million items, and recycling more than 16 tons of in-flight textiles—key milestones in the airline’s enduring commitment to sustainable practices.

Pattheera Anandchotiphatchara, Head of KTC World Travel Service and Airline Travel Marketing at KTC, said that the partnership with Air Canada exemplifies KTC’s mission to offer eco-conscious travel options while delivering seamless access to exceptional experiences.
